Viewing the present day scenario and the Industries, where automation and control are of primary importance, the department has been opened to render human resource in this sector. The department has been opened since 2003 with an intake capacity of 60 students. The syllabus offered is as per the B.P.U.T syllabus. However, infrastructure and laboratory facilities are being created to impart additional knowledge to the students, which otherwise are not available in the course syllabus. The two laboratories i.e. Sensors and Signals and Measurements Laboratory, are quipped with equipments and trainers for the full capacity of the students. As the department is relatively recent, action has been taken in improve upon the present facility and also add laboratory facility for the forthcoming semesters.

Design software’s like p-Spice, MATLAB, Circuit Maker etc. are on the pipeline for procurement.

The department concentrates on industry automation and control using various instruments and software packages. The focus is to create hard core engineering professionals to cater to the needs of the present and future industries of the country, particularly the Eastern region.
