GOALS :

The goals of the Postgraduate Programmes at DRIEMS are as follows: "The development of the highest quality of scientific and engineering manpower to cater to the needs of Industry, R & D Organizations and Educational Institutions who shall have a broad grasp of the fundamental principles of sciences and the scientific method, deep understanding of their area of specialization, innovative ability to solve new problems, and the capacity to learn continually and interact with multidisciplinary groups. Above all, they should have a capacity for free and objective enquiry, courage and integrity, awareness and sensitivity to the needs and aspirations of society." With this end in view, the programmes are started to develop concepts and intellectual skills.

RESEARCH OBJECTIVE :

These programmes have their courses and specialized research aim to prepare students for their professions by enabling a perspective and breadth of knowledge related to the principal divisions of their respective fields of specialization.
Computer Science & Engineering – 18 seats
Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering – 18 seats
Electrical Engineering – 18 seats
The All India Council of Technical Education, New Delhi, has granted approval to DRIEMS in 2008 to start M.Tech.in Electronics and Communications Engineering and Computer Science & Engineering. We see it as a symbol of recognition of the extremely hard work put in by every member of the DRIEMS family - every student, every staff member and every faculty member - over the last ten years.
The approved intake is eighteen seats for each program and the program is affiliated to the Biju Patnaik University of Technology, Orissa. It is heavily oriented towards the needs of the industry and has a very large component of research projects and laboratory work. Most of the M.Tech. theses will be on research topics sponsored by the industry and this should automatically lead to placement in the sponsoring agency.
This M.Tech. program will also give a major boost to the research activities of our faculty members and will push the quality of their work to the next higher level of excellence. Finally, we see this program as another successful step in our never ending quest for academic and technological excellence

ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION :

Eligibility Criteria for General Category: (a) Preference will be given to candidates having a valid GATE score and (b) non-GATE candidates having a minimum of 60% in aggregate OR CGPA of 6.5/10 at B.Tech./B.E level can also apply.
Students with B.E/B.Tech. in the relevant subjects are eligible to apply.
Sponsored candidates must have two years of work experience and meet the eligibility criteria mentioned in AICTE circular on "Guidelines for Admission of Sponsored Candidates to Full-Time PG Degree Programmes."

PROGRESS OF M.TECH PROGRAMME IN DRIEMS :

With the grand success of NBA Accreditation in DRIEMS for the three departments, Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Engineering AICTE has approved the introduction of M. Tech courses in the department of Electronics & Telecommunication and Computer Science Engineering. The M. Tech classes are in full swing. In addition to this, in-house faculty resources, eminent Professors from IIT, NIIT and reputed industry specialists are invited on regular basis for imparting quality education to our M.Tech students. The programme started with its inauguration on 11th Sept., 2008. Prof P.K. Das, Director (R&D), SIT, BBSR and Prof. G. Panda, NIT, Rourkela graced the occasion.
