In line with the affirmative policy of Government of India, DRIEMS University has resolved that the affirmative policies, programme, schemes, facilities would be provided to the persons belonging to socially and economically weaker sections of the society.
The University is committed to provide an environment that promotes diversity and respects everyone regardless of colour, religious belief or cultures. While maintaining diversity of all kinds, it also commits to ensuring protection of everyone including Scheduled castes / Scheduled Tribes and acting as per the provisions of constitution of India in such matters.
In order to create a living and working environment where all students feel safe and respected and with a view to ensure implementation of the affirmative policy of the Government of India/ UGC and related orders issued by such authorities from time to time for the benefit of SC / ST, OBC and Minority students.
DRIEMS University established the SC/ST, OBC and Minority Committee according to Scheduled castes and the Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989, 33 of 1989, dated 11.09.1989.
SC/ST, OBC and Minority committee of the University aims at monitoring, evaluation and planning for effective implementation of policies and programmes of government concerning SC/ST, OBC and Minority candidates. The committee involved with work related to grievance received from SC/ST, OBC and Minority students and staff members. It gives utmost help in areas where SC / ST, OBC and Minority students and staff members find difficulties.
The goal of the Committee is to enhance the psychological wellbeing of SC / ST, OBC and Minority students at DRIEMS University. So, they can take full advantage of the educational opportunities at the University. This policy shall apply to all the SC / ST, OBC and Minority students and faculties of the University.
● To counsel and guide SC/ST/OBC/Minority students and help them to manage academic and personal issues of University life effectively.
● To ensure provisions of an environment where all such students feel safe and secure.
● To provide prompt counseling for any emotional emergencies arising on account of any event at the campus.
● To provide the mechanism to redress the grievance of SC/ST/OBC/Minority students, and staff members, if any.
● To aware the SC/ST/OBC/Minority students regarding various scholarships program of State Govt. and UGC.
● Circulate Government of India and Commission’s decisions and to collect regularly, on an annual basis, the information about course wise admissions to candidates belonging to the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, OBC and Minority in the institute for different courses, in suitable forms prescribed, by a stipulated date, and to take follow up action, where required.
● Circulate Government of India circulars, orders and Commission’s decisions and to collect information in respect of appointment, training of these communities in teaching and non-teaching posts in the University, in suitable forms by a stipulated date and take follow up action where required.
● Collect reports and information regarding the Government of India orders on the various aspects of education, training and employment of Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe candidates, for evolving new policies or modifying existing policy by the Commission.
● Analyse information on admissions, education, training and employment of SC/ST, OBC & Minority and prepare reports and digests for onward transmission to the Ministry of Human Resource Development/University Grants Commission and such other authorities as may be required.
● Deal with representations received from SC/ST, OBC & Minority candidates regarding their admission, recruitment, promotion and other similar matters in University.
● Function as a Grievances Redressal Cell for the grievances of SC/ST, OBC & Minority students and employees of the institute and render them required help in solving their academic as well as administrative issues.
● Any other work assigned from time to time to promote higher education among these SC/ST, OBC & Minority communities suffering economic, social and educational deprivations.
