Differently Abled Committee

        The Differently Abled Committee of DRIEMS University is constituted to ensure equal opportunities, accessibility, inclusiveness, and support for differently abled students, faculty members, and staff within the University campus. The Committee is committed to creating a barrier-free and inclusive educational environment where every individual can participate with dignity, independence, and confidence. The Committee works towards safeguarding the rights and welfare of differently abled persons in accordance with institutional policies and government guidelines.

Scope

The Committee shall oversee matters related to accessibility, inclusion, welfare, and support services for differently abled persons within the University, including:

  ● Accessibility to classrooms, laboratories, libraries, hostels, washrooms, and campus facilities.
  ● Academic support and assistance for differently abled students.
  ● Identification of infrastructural barriers and recommendation of necessary improvements.
  ● Coordination with departments and administrative units for implementation of inclusive practices.
  ● Organizing awareness programmes, sensitization workshops, and support initiatives.
  ● Addressing grievances and issues faced by differently abled students and staff.
  ● Monitoring implementation of facilities and services provided for differently abled individuals.

Objectives

  ● To promote an inclusive and accessible educational environment for differently abled persons.
  ● To ensure equal opportunities in academic, co-curricular, and extracurricular activities.
  ● To identify and address the needs and challenges faced by differently abled students and staff.
  ● To create awareness regarding the rights, dignity, and welfare of differently abled individuals.
  ● To provide necessary support systems, facilities, and guidance for their academic and personal development.
  ● To encourage participation and integration of differently abled persons in all University activities.
  ● To ensure compliance with government policies and regulations related to accessibility and disability rights.

Functions

  ● To assess and monitor the needs of differently abled students, faculty, and staff.
  ● To recommend measures for creating a barrier-free and accessible campus environment.
  ● To facilitate academic assistance, counselling, and support services whenever required.
  ● To ensure availability of necessary infrastructure and assistive facilities within the campus.
  ● To organize awareness programmes on disability inclusion, sensitivity, and accessibility.
  ● To coordinate with various departments for implementation of inclusive educational practices.
  ● To maintain records related to facilities, support services, and grievances of differently abled individuals.
  ● To submit periodic reports and recommendations to the University authorities for continuous improvement of inclusive practices
  ● To recommend welfare measures, scholarships, and government support schemes for eligible students.
