Dr. Pedda Ghouse Peera S.K.

Assistant Professor | Dept. of Soil Science & Agricultural Chemistry | School of Agriculture

Dr. Pedda Ghouse Peera S. K. is a Soil Scientist and Assistant Professor with dual gold medals and two Best Teacher Awards, widely recognized for his expertise in sustainable soil fertility, nutrient management, and metal(loid) contamination mitigation in rice ecosystems. He has received scholarships, endowments and JRF throughout his academic career. He is broadly trained in plant nutrition, environmental risk assessment, and remote sensing, with research spanning bio-, nano-, and silicon-based interventions to improve soil health and crop productivity. His doctoral work focused on microbial and organic strategies for zinc biofortification in maize, while his master’s research examined silicon and potassium release from fly ash. He has guided postgraduate students, contributed to major national research projects, and actively advances tools for crop biofortification, silicon nutrition, and arsenic detoxification for safer grains and human health. He has also authored eight undergraduate practical manuals aligned with the ICAR 6th Dean’s Committee syllabus and developed a free-access online courseware on Fundamentals of Soil Science to support financially poor students who cannot afford textbooks.
