Equal Opportunity Cell

            The Equal Opportunity Cell (EOC) of DRIEMS University is constituted to ensure equality, inclusiveness, and a discrimination-free environment for all students, faculty members, and staff of the University. The Cell works towards promoting social justice and equal access to educational opportunities irrespective of caste, creed, gender, religion, disability, economic background, or any other social differences. It aims to create an inclusive academic atmosphere where every individual receives equal respect, dignity, and opportunities for growth and development.

Scope

The scope of the Equal Opportunity Cell includes:

  ● Ensuring equal access to academic, administrative, and co-curricular activities for all students and employees.
  ● Addressing issues related to discrimination, inequality, or unfair treatment within the University campus.
  ● Supporting students belonging to SC/ST/OBC, minorities, economically weaker sections, differently-abled categories, and other disadvantaged groups.
  ● Creating awareness regarding constitutional rights, equality, and social justice.
  ● Facilitating welfare measures, guidance, and grievance redressal mechanisms for marginalized and underprivileged groups.

Objectives

  ● To promote equality and ensure fair treatment for all members of the University community.
  ● To provide a supportive and inclusive environment for students from disadvantaged and marginalized sections.
  ● To prevent discrimination and encourage harmony, diversity, and mutual respect on the campus.
  ● To create awareness about government schemes, scholarships, and welfare programs available for students.
  ● To assist differently-abled students and ensure accessibility in academic and infrastructural facilities.
  ● To encourage social inclusion and equal participation in educational and extracurricular activities.
  ● To uphold the values of justice, equity, and human dignity in the University.

Functions

  ● To monitor and ensure the implementation of policies related to equal opportunity and social inclusion.
  ● To address grievances related to discrimination, bias, or unequal treatment.
  ● To organize awareness programs, seminars, workshops, and counselling sessions on equality and human rights.
  ● To guide eligible students regarding scholarships, financial assistance, and government welfare schemes.
  ● To maintain records and reports related to activities and grievances handled by the Cell.
  ● To recommend measures for improving accessibility and inclusiveness on the campus.
  ● To coordinate with University authorities for the welfare and empowerment of disadvantaged groups.
  ● To encourage participation of all students in academic, cultural, sports, and leadership activities without discrimination.
  ● To promote an environment of tolerance, respect, and equal opportunity throughout the University campus.
