Dr. Sidhartha Sankar Kar completed his M. Pharm in Pharmaceutical Chemistry with distinction from Manipal College of Pharmaceutical Sciences (MAHE), Manipal, and his Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences from Manipal University in 2013 under the supervision of Prof. G. Gautham Shenoy. Prof. Kar previously worked as a research associate in the Medicinal Chemistry Division of Zydus Research Centre (Cadila Healthcare Ltd) in Ahmedabad, a senior research fellow (ICMR) at Manipal University in Manipal, an assistant professor of pharmaceutical chemistry at IGIPS, Bhubaneswar and IPT, Salipur, and an associate professor at the Faculty of Pharmacy at C. V. Raman Global University in Bhubaneswar. He currently serves as a professor and head of pharmaceutical chemistry at the School of Pharmacy, DRIEMS University, Cuttack. Dr Kar's research interests include the design, synthesis, and evaluation of NCEs targeting multifunctional therapeutic targets; novel process development of APIs and KPIs; development of druggable co-crystals and polymers; in silico investigations; impurity profiling; and physicochemical and pharmacokinetic studies. Prof. Kar has received research grants from DST-SERB (TARE) and MSME (Idea Hackathon), as well as seminar grants from the AERB, Government of India. Dr Kar has collaborated with the Medicinal Chemistry Department of NIPER, Kolkata, through an outreach programme to conduct antibacterial research during 2021-2024. Professor Kar has authored over 30 international papers, conference proceedings, and book chapters. He has guided one Ph.D., 20 M. Pharm., and 36 B. Pharm. students and is currently guiding two Ph.Ds. Prof. Kar received fellowship from AICTE during 2004-2006 and Senior Research Fellowship from ICMR during 2009-2012. He has served as the Scientific Service Committee member of the 62nd/63rd/64th Indian Pharmaceutical Congress, held at Manipal/Bangalore/Chennai, respectively. He was recognised as an outstanding performer of Cadila Healthcare Ltd., Ahmedabad, in the years 2008 and 2009. He has been the recipient of the Best Achiever Award for Teaching and Research by the Association of Pharmaceutical Professionals, Odisha State Branch, the Association of Pharmaceutical Professionals, American International Branch, in 2024, and the Nirmala Jayashree Memorial Award for research contribution in 2022. Prof. Sidhartha Sankar Kar is a life member of the Indian Pharmaceutical Association, Association of Pharmaceutical Teachers of India, Association of Pharmacy Professionals and Orissa Chemical Society.
