DRIEMS University proudly celebrated International Nurses Day on 12th May with immense enthusiasm, gratitude, and respect for the noble nursing profession. The theme for this year’s celebration, “Our Nurses. Our Future. Empowered Nurses Save Lives,” highlighted the indispensable role of nurses in strengthening healthcare systems and saving lives through compassion, dedication, and service.
The programme commenced with the ceremonial lamp lighting, symbolizing knowledge, care, and commitment to humanity, followed by the welcome address delivered by Dr. Pratima Prakashan, Dean, School of Nursing, DRIEMS University.
The celebration was graced by the esteemed presence of Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Prakash Kumar Hota, Registrar Sj. Krushna Prasad Pati, Deputy Registrar Er. Shishir Kumar Sahoo, Prof. Lokanath Behera, Director Student Relations, Adviser Prof. Susanta Kumar Das, along with faculty members, students, and distinguished guests.
As part of the celebration, a Faculty Pencil Sketch Competition was organized under the guidance of the Dean, School of Nursing. Faculty members showcased their artistic creativity and talent, and the top three participants were awarded prizes in recognition of their outstanding performances.
The event further continued with an energetic cultural session in the afternoon, where students and faculty members presented vibrant performances reflecting unity, enthusiasm, and appreciation for the nursing community. The celebration also included a joyful cake-cutting ceremony, bringing everyone together to honour the tireless dedication, compassion, and selfless service of nurses toward society and humanity.
Through this celebration, DRIEMS University reaffirmed its deep respect and appreciation for nurses and healthcare professionals who continue to serve as pillars of care and healing in society.
