Lamp Lighting & Oath-taking Ceremony 2026 Held at School of Nursing, DRIEMS University

The School of Nursing, DRIEMS University, organized its Lamp Lighting & Oath-taking Ceremony 2026 at Jayashree Auditorium, marking a significant milestone in the academic and professional journey of the first-year nursing students. The event was a memorable celebration of dedication, compassion, and commitment to the noble profession of nursing.

The ceremony commenced with the traditional lamp-lighting ritual and floral tributes to Late Dhaneswar Rath and Florence Nightingale, the pioneer of modern nursing. The symbolic lighting of the lamp reflected the values of knowledge, service, and humanity that form the foundation of the nursing profession.

A key highlight of the programme was the administration of the Nursing Oath to the newly admitted students. Taking the oath, the students pledged to uphold the highest standards of professional ethics, compassionate care, and selfless service to humanity throughout their careers.

The event was graced by several distinguished dignitaries, including Prof. (Dr.) Sakti Prasad Das, Hon’ble Member, Board of Governors, DRIEMS University; Shri Krishna Prasad Pati, Registrar, DRIEMS University; Shri Balaram Kar, Director Administration, DRIEMS University; Mrs. Chinmayee Rath, Director Coordination, DRIEMS University; Prof. Loknath Behera, Director, Student Relations, DRIEMS University; Prof. (Dr.) Prathima Prakasam, Dean, School of Nursing; Mrs. Premalata Devi, Associate Dean, School of Nursing; and Mrs. Sebati Sahoo, Nursing Officer, District Headquarters Hospital, Nabarangpur, and National Florence Nightingale Awardee–2022.

Addressing the gathering, the dignitaries encouraged the students to embrace the values of empathy, discipline, integrity, and lifelong learning while serving society through the healthcare profession.

The programme also featured the announcement and distribution of prizes recognizing outstanding student achievements. The prize winners were announced by Ms. Smrutishree Priyadarsini Dalsi, Associate Professor and SNAI Unit Advising Coordinator, School of Nursing, DRIEMS University.

The event was smoothly conducted by the Masters of Ceremony, Ms. Sumita Rani Bhuiyan, MSc Tutor, and Ms. Lora Jana, Clinical Instructor, whose efforts contributed to the success of the programme.

The ceremony concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks, celebrating the beginning of a noble and inspiring journey for the future nursing professionals. The enthusiastic participation of faculty members, students, and staff added warmth and significance to the occasion, making it a truly memorable event.
