The School of Nursing, DRIEMS University, successfully concluded its 2nd Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on the theme “Humanizing Healthcare through Empathetic Agility, Resilience & Tech-Infused Transformation”, held from 20th to 24th July 2026 in hybrid mode. The five-day academic programme culminated with a grand Valedictory Ceremony at the Padmini Auditorium, School of Nursing, DRIEMS University, Kataka.
The valedictory ceremony was graced by Prof. (Dr.) Prakash Kumar Hota, Vice-Chancellor, DRIEMS University, as the Chief Guest. Dr. Ramakant Panigrahi, Pro Vice-Chancellor, DRIEMS University, attended as the Special Guest. The Guests of Honour included Sj. Balaram Kar, Director (Administration), DRIEMS University, and Mrs. Chinmayee Rath, Director (Coordination), DRIEMS University. The programme was further enriched by the presence of Dr. R. N. Nayak, Dean, School of Management, and Prof. (Dr.) Alok Ranjan Biswal, Director, IQAC, as Special Invitees.
The Faculty Development Programme was convened by Dr. Prathima Prakasam, Dean, School of Nursing. Prof. N. Premlata Devi, Associate Dean, School of Nursing, served as the Organizing Secretary, while Prof. Sathish Rajamani served as the Co-Organizing Secretary. Mr. Nirakar Sahu, Public Relations Officer (PRO), DRIEMS University, was also present during the programme. The valedictory session was elegantly anchored by Prof. Sheeba Anitha Rani, Head, Department of Child Health Nursing, and Mrs. Rimi Sarkar, Associate Professor.
Over the course of five days, the FDP featured distinguished academicians and healthcare experts who delivered insightful sessions on empathetic healthcare, emotional intelligence, resilience, leadership, communication, soft skills, and technology-enabled transformation in healthcare education and clinical practice. The programme received an overwhelming response, attracting approximately 745 participants from Odisha and various other states through both online and offline modes.
Addressing the gathering, the dignitaries emphasized the growing significance of empathy, resilience, adaptability, and technological competence in shaping the future of healthcare education. They appreciated the School of Nursing for organizing a highly relevant and impactful academic initiative that promoted professional growth, interdisciplinary learning, and innovation in nursing education.
The valedictory ceremony celebrated the successful completion of the programme with a strong focus on strengthening soft skills and enhancing patient-centred care. Faculty members were encouraged to integrate the knowledge, perspectives, and best practices gained during the FDP into their teaching, research, and clinical responsibilities, thereby contributing to the advancement of quality healthcare education.
The programme concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks, marking the end of a successful and enriching Faculty Development Programme that inspired participants to continue striving for empathy, resilience, innovation, and excellence in healthcare education and service.
