The School of Fashion Designing, DRIEMS University, celebrated National Handloom Day by paying tribute to India’s rich handloom heritage, traditional craftsmanship, and cultural diversity.
The celebration highlighted the timeless beauty and artistic excellence of Indian handlooms, with a special focus on the rich textile traditions of Odisha. As part of the event, students participated in a vibrant ramp walk, confidently showcasing the elegance and cultural significance of traditional Odia handloom attire.
The ramp walk provided students with an opportunity to creatively present traditional weaves while demonstrating how heritage textiles can be embraced through contemporary fashion. Their confident presentations beautifully reflected the harmony between tradition, creativity, and modern fashion sensibilities.
The celebration also served as a meaningful platform to create awareness among students about the importance of preserving India’s handloom traditions and supporting the artisans and communities who keep these age-old weaving practices alive.
Through such initiatives, the School of Fashion Designing continues to encourage students to explore India’s diverse textile heritage and develop a deeper appreciation for sustainable, culturally rooted fashion.
Celebrating Tradition. Inspiring Creativity. Preserving Heritage.
