Promoting Awareness for a Healthy and Sustainable Start in Life
The Departments of Paediatric Nursing and Obstetrics & Gynaecological Nursing jointly observed World Breastfeeding Week 2026 on 7 August 2026 at DRIEMS University.
As part of the observance, a Poster Presentation Competition was organised for students based on the theme:
“Breastfeeding for a Sustainable Start in Life: Strengthen What Works.”
Students from the 5th and 7th Semesters of B.Sc. Nursing participated enthusiastically, presenting creative and informative posters that highlighted the importance of breastfeeding in promoting maternal and child health, nutrition, well-being, and a healthier and more sustainable future.
The programme was graced by Prof. (Dr.) Prathima Prakasam, Dean; Prof. N. Premlata Devi, Associate Dean; Prof. Sheeba Anitha Rani, HoD, Department of Paediatric Nursing; along with Heads of various departments and esteemed faculty members. Their presence and encouragement motivated the students and added significance to the celebration.
The poster presentation provided students with an engaging platform to translate their academic knowledge into meaningful health-awareness messages while emphasising the vital role of breastfeeding in supporting the health and development of mothers and children.
The observance served as a meaningful initiative to promote awareness about breastfeeding and reinforce the importance of evidence-based maternal and child healthcare practices.
Through such academic and awareness-driven activities, DRIEMS University continues to nurture knowledgeable, compassionate, and socially responsible healthcare professionals committed to advancing community health and well-being.
