DRIEMS University observed World Suicide Prevention Day 2026 with an impactful awareness programme focused on promoting mental health awareness, encouraging open and empathetic conversations, and highlighting the importance of timely support and intervention.
The programme aimed to create greater awareness about mental well-being and the importance of building a supportive environment where individuals feel comfortable seeking help and discussing their concerns without fear of judgement or stigma.

Dr. Jayprakash Russell Ravan, HOD, Department of Psychiatric, Padmini Care Hospital, and Dr. Somesh Mohanty, Consultant Neuro Psychiatrist, Department of Psychiatric, Padmini Care Hospital & DRIEMS Medical College, addressed the gathering and highlighted the importance of recognising concerns early, seeking appropriate support, and responding with empathy and understanding.
Their interaction emphasised that meaningful conversations and supportive relationships can play an important role in encouraging individuals to seek help when they need it.
