DRIEMS University, in association with the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), successfully organised a Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on “Standardization and Quality Ecosystem” at the Padmini Auditorium. The programme aimed to enhance awareness of national standards, quality assurance practices and standardisation frameworks, highlighting their significance in engineering education, academic research and technological innovation.
The session featured Shri A. K. Purohit, Senior Director and Head, Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Bhubaneswar Branch Office, as the distinguished keynote speaker. He shared valuable insights into the role of standardisation in ensuring quality, reliability, safety and consistency across industries and research activities. His address emphasised the importance of adopting recognised standards to strengthen academic excellence, promote innovation and bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and industry requirements.
The occasion was graced by the university’s distinguished leadership, including Prof. (Dr.) Gopal Krishna Nayak, Vice-Chancellor; Dr. Ramakanta Panigrahi, Pro Vice-Chancellor; Dr. Alok Ranjan Biswal, Director, IQAC; Dr. Nayan Ranjan Samal, Dean, School of Engineering; Dr. Biswa Ranjan Mohanty, Dean of Research; Dr. Deepak Ranjan Biswal, Convenor, Institution’s Innovation Council; and Dr. Jibanananda Mehena, Head, Department of Electronics & Telecommunication.
The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from faculty members and students, creating an engaging platform for knowledge sharing, professional development and meaningful discussions on quality standards and their practical applications. The session encouraged participants to integrate standardisation principles into teaching, research and innovation while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and quality consciousness.
Special appreciation was extended to the event coordinators, Dr. Gourab Kumar Panda and Mr. Pabitra Nayak, whose dedicated efforts and seamless coordination contributed to the successful organisation of the programme.
