DRIEMS University successfully hosted the 3rd Annual Conference of the Association of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation of Odisha (APMRO) on March 14, 2026, at the Jayashree Auditorium. Centered on the theme “Innovate, Integrate and Rehabilitate,” the conference brought together leading academicians, clinicians, researchers, and healthcare professionals from across the country to explore the latest advancements in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
The conference was inaugurated by Hon’ble Chairman Dr. Pramod Chandra Rath in the presence of Prof. (Dr.) Anil Kumar Sahu, Joint DMET, and Prof. (Dr.) Sanjay Pandey, Professor & Head, AIIMS Patna, who attended as the Chief Guest. The event was also graced by Sj. Balaram Kar, Director Administration, and Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Prakash Kumar Hota, with warm wishes conveyed by Mrs. Chinmayee Rath, Director Coordination.
Several eminent medical professionals and academicians participated in the conference, including Prof. (Dr.) Sanjay Kumar Das, Prof. (Dr.) Pabitra Kumar Sahoo, Prof. (Dr.) Jagannath Sahoo (Head, PMR, AIIMS Bhubaneswar), Dr. Abhishek Sanyal, Dr. Pramod Kumar Parida, Dr. Pampa De, Dr. Durga Prasad Mishra, Dr. Jyoti Ranjan Sahoo, Dr. Suparna Parija, Dr. Payal, Dr. Priyanka, Dr. Soubhagyalaxmi, Dr. Soumya, Dr. Akash, and Dr. Siddharth, along with research scholars and delegates from various institutions. Faculty members of the School of Allied and Healthcare Sciences, DRIEMS University were also present.
The academic sessions featured insightful presentations on topics such as Bridging Technology, Access and Excellence; Hazards of Computer Use and Rehabilitation; Treatment Strategies in Pressure Ulcers; Adult Hip Pain; Tibial Nerve Transfer in Diabetic Peripheral Vascular Disease; Innovations in Prosthetics; and Musculoskeletal Ultrasound of the Shoulder with Practical Scanning Techniques.
A notable research presentation on the effect of caudal epidural steroid injections on electrodiagnostic parameters in patients with lumbosacral radiculopathy drew significant academic attention. Emerging areas such as neuromodulation and the management of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) were also discussed during the conference.
The event also provided a platform for resident presentations, where young professionals showcased their research and clinical experiences, earning appreciation for their academic depth and practical relevance.
The vote of thanks was delivered by Prof. (Dr.) Sakti Prasad Das, while the programme was smoothly anchored by Dr. Susmita Chakraborty and Dr. Shruti Mohapatra.
The conference was organized by the School of Allied and Healthcare Sciences, DRIEMS University, with strong support from the university administration including Prof. Loknath Behera, Mr. Ashutosh Dwivedi (Admin Officer), Mr. Sunay Mishra, Mr. Nirakar Sahoo (PRO), Mr. Bipin Lenka, Mr. Pabitra, and Mr. Gaurav.
