Promoting Heart Health Through Awareness and Community Engagement
On the occasion of World Heart Day 2026, the Department of Medical-Surgical Nursing, School of Nursing, DRIEMS University, organised an awareness programme at Bhatimunda Primary Health Centre (PHC) with the active participation of 4th Semester Nursing Students.
The programme focused on creating awareness about heart health, prevention of cardiovascular diseases, healthy lifestyle practices, and the importance of timely medical care. The initiative aimed to encourage individuals to adopt healthier habits and recognise the importance of preventive healthcare for maintaining a healthy heart.
A major highlight of the programme was an informative and engaging role play presented by the nursing students for patients at the PHC. Through their creative performance, the students effectively conveyed important messages related to heart disease prevention, healthy living, and the significance of seeking timely medical attention.
The programme was graced by Dr. Biswaprakash Bhoi, Chief Medical Officer; Dr. Amiya Prakash Dash, Medical Officer; and Mr. Nirakara Sahu, PRO.
The event was also attended by Mrs. Renubala Pradhan, HOD, Department of Medical-Surgical Nursing & Associate Professor, along with Mrs. Rojalin Dash, Assistant Professor; Mrs. Sabitri Dalai; Mrs. Ananya Maity, and other faculty members of the School of Nursing.
The programme provided a valuable platform for nursing students to translate their academic knowledge into meaningful community health awareness and engagement. It also reinforced the vital role of nursing professionals in promoting preventive healthcare and encouraging healthier communities.
Through such initiatives, DRIEMS University continues to promote health awareness, community service, experiential learning, and responsible healthcare practices among its students.
