Basic Life Support (BLS) Programme & CPR Training at DRIEMS University

Knowledge saves lives. But knowing what to do in the first few minutes of an emergency can make all the difference.

The School of Allied and Healthcare Sciences (SOAH), DRIEMS University, successfully organised an impactful Basic Life Support (BLS) Programme & CPR Training in accordance with American Heart Association standards. The programme brought together 200+ enthusiastic delegates for a day dedicated to learning, awareness, practical training, and essential life-saving skills.

The programme was conducted under the initiative and guidance of Governing Body Member Dr. Shakti Prasad Das, Dean, SOAH, Dr. Durga Prasad Mishra, and the dedicated faculty members of the School of Allied and Healthcare Sciences.

The event was graced by the esteemed presence of Hon’ble Chairman Dr. Pramod Chandra Ratha, with the support of Director Administration Sj. Balaram Kar and Director Coordination Mrs. Chinmayee Rath. The programme also received the good wishes and support of VC Prof. P. K. Hota, Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. R. K. Panigrahi, Director (Student Relations) Prof. Loknath Behera, PRO Nirakar Sahu, and the entire DRIEMS administration.

The programme was professionally anchored by Dr. Shruti Mohapatra and Dr. Udita Mishra, adding energy and structure to the proceedings.

Building Confidence Through Practical Learning

The resource person, Dr. Suchismita Swain, delivered an insightful and practical session focused on essential emergency response techniques and the importance of timely intervention. The session covered key areas including:

  1. CPR Indications and BLS Principles
  2. Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Awareness and Usage
  3. Choking Relief Techniques
  4. Emergency Response and Preparedness
  5. Essential Life-Saving Skills

The programme went beyond theoretical learning through an engaging hands-on CPR and BLS practice session. Participants had the opportunity to understand and practise essential techniques, helping transform knowledge into confidence and awareness into action.

Dr. Gourab Kumar Panda, Assistant Professor & Event Coordinator, was also present throughout the programme and contributed to its successful coordination and execution.
