DRIEMS University organised an insightful Expert Talk on “Innovations and Emerging Technologies in Mining: A Mechanical Engineering Perspective” on 18 August 2026 at the Padmini Auditorium, in association with the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) and the Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell.
The session featured Dr. Sujit Kumar Dash, DGM (Mining), NALCO, as the distinguished expert speaker. He shared valuable insights into the latest innovations, emerging technologies, and the evolving role of mechanical engineering in the mining sector. His industry-oriented perspectives provided students and faculty members with a deeper understanding of technological advancements and emerging opportunities in the field.
The programme commenced with a formal interaction, followed by the expert session and technical discussion, creating an enriching platform for knowledge exchange between academia and industry.
The event was graced by Prof. Prakash Kumar Hota, Vice Chancellor, DRIEMS University and President, Institution’s Innovation Council; Dr. Alok Ranjan Biswal, Director, IQAC; Dr. Biswaranjan Mohanty, Dean Research & Vice President, Institution’s Innovation Council; and Dr. Deepak Ranjan Biswal, Convenor, Institution’s Innovation Council & Head, Department of Mechanical Engineering, DRIEMS University.
Deans, Heads of Departments, faculty members, students, and members of the Institution’s Innovation Council actively participated in the programme and contributed to its successful conduct.
Dr. Gourab Kumar Panda and Mr. Pabitra Nayak, Assistant Professors and Event Coordinators, were also present and contributed to the smooth coordination and execution of the event.
The engaging session provided participants with valuable exposure to industry practices, technological advancements, innovation, and the future of mining, while highlighting the significance of interdisciplinary learning and strong industry-academia collaboration.
